Luna Powder

The Luna powder is a symbol of deception. When Zorrie is working at the radium factory, she and the other girls are made to believe that the toxic Luna powder is a sort of magical tonic. They are even encouraged to eat it for better health. Years later, however, the women discover that the powder has either given them cancer or ruined their reproductive organs. The powder holds the promise of newness and beauty, yet is really a symbol of death.
