Summary
As Mark Spitz crossed town he heard machine gun fire over the barricade. Mark Spitz sensed a disaster coming. He reached headquarters and sought the new lieutenant, Fabio. When Mark Spitz told Fabio that a straggler bit Gary, he was confused. Stragglers didn’t bite people. What was going on? The fortune-teller’s bite signified a larger problem. If stragglers can become skels, then the survivors were done for. Fabio then told Mark Spitz that their base had lost contact with Buffalo; the radios were cut out, and they had no reinforcements for the falling barrier blocking out the skels.
