Summary

In “Thursday, February 9: Minus Three Days,” Jack was awakened by the sound of a police radio. When she peeked out the window, she could see an officer standing outside. A police car was blocking Cole’s car. Jack gathered her belongings and climbed out a back window. She ran from the cottage, but her progress was slowed when she was entangled in some loops of discarded barbed wire which slowed her progress.

As Jack untangled herself, she could hear Malik talking to her over a loudspeaker, asking her to turn herself in. Malik told Jack that they knew she was innocent, but Jack knew the police did not send two cars after an innocent person in the middle of the night.

Jack ran until she located a building that was probably used to serve snacks during the summer. The keypad...
