Summary
In "Chapter 24: Elgort," Zahrah finds a terrifying trail of destruction. After two days following it, she sees an elgort; an elephant-type creature moving faster than a car. She finds the cave a day later and takes a moment to rest by practicing meditating like she once did with Dari. She watches an elgort enter the cave and meditates for hours before the creature leaves. The narrating Zahrah says that the elgort did not go far and likely sensed that her eggs were in danger. Meanwhile, Zahrah tries to decide which egg to take as they all look the same. Calming herself, she grabs a cold egg and runs as the elgort gets closer.
