Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald
At the beginning of the novel, Zelda is a 17-year-old girl, who is beautiful, mischievous, and a bit of a tomboy. She grows up in Montgomery, Alabama, and is the youngest of five children. With Zelda’s father being the town’s court judge, the Sayres are a well-known family in Montgomery. Zelda is known for her careless flirtations with men, until her whole life is turned around upon meeting Scott Fitzgerald. The two quickly fall in love, and regardless of her own misgivings and the warnings from her family, Zelda marries Scott just two years after their initial meeting. Upon her marriage to Scott, Zelda goes from country girl to elite New Yorker.
