Summary
In Chapter 30, Zelda and Scott meet Ernest Hemingway, who says he greatly admires Scott’s writing. Scott also praises Hemingway’s work, and the two become fast friends. Zelda tells Scott something about Hemingway seems fake, but he brushes her off. Later that night, Scott says he wants Zelda to see a doctor about her fertility, once again telling her he wants a son.
In Chapter 31, Zelda and Scott visit Hemingway’s home. They meet Hemingway’s wife, Hadley, who is warm and kind. The group visits Gertrude Stein’s home, who talks literature with Scott and Hemingway. When a woman leads Zelda and the other wives there into a separate room, irritated and hit with a sudden stomach cramp, Zelda decides to leave.
