Summary

In Chapter 24, Zelda tells Scott that she wants to divorce him. Zelda explains that she does not think that she and Scott are good for one another, and that she is instead in love with Édouard. Scott gets tremendously upset and angry, and asserts that there is no reason for her to leave him, as he has dedicated his life to Zelda.

Scott begs Zelda to give him another chance, and Zelda takes the night to consider doing so. She realizes that she is not actually in love with Édouard after all, and that she will always love Scott no matter what. When Zelda returns to Scott, they make love and she cuts things off with Édouard the next day.
