Summary
The night before Rafa and Yunior go to look for Ysrael, Rafa has trouble sleeping. They hear their father socializing with his friends in the yard. One of his roosters had won a rooster fight the day before, and he is thinking of taking it to Santo Domingo to compete. Rafa and Yunior wonder aloud to each other about how much of Ysrael’s face is gone. Yunior once heard that if someone looked at Ysrael’s face, they would be sad for the rest of their life. This idea frightens Yunior. The next morning, Rafa and Yunior prepare to go look for Ysrael. Rafa peels two oranges with his knife and gives one to Yunior. Yunior expects Rafa to tell him not to come along, but Rafa says nothing, so Yunior, quietly excited, goes with Rafa. They bring two empty bottes of Coca-Cola...
