Summary

Julie remembers going to concerts with Sam and Mika when she was trying to get Sam to work up the courage to ask her on a date. Even though Julie and Sam did not share the same taste in music, Julie just enjoyed spending time with him. They went to art exhibits as well as out to dinner, discussing their separate interests as well as discovering shared passion.

Julie missed the candlelight vigil and Mika is hurt. She tells Julie that she knows the vigil would not have brought Sam back, but she still wanted to remember him. She brought her rejection letter from the University of Washington. She has gotten rejected from many of the colleges she applied to so far, and she worries that Sam would have thought she is a failure.
