Summary

In Chapter 1, Jocelyn approaches Briana Ortiz to complain about the new doctor in the emergency department at Royaume Northwestern Hospital. The nurses are calling him “Dr. Death” since six patients already died on his very first day (7). He seems to be rude as well. Briana tells Jocelyn to go easy on the new guy.

Briana's best friend and former colleague, Alexis, calls. Alexis is on her honeymoon but offers to come home early to comfort Briana. Briana's divorce from Nick is being finalized that day. He cheated on her with her friend Kelly. Briana is ashamed of what she did to Nick when she found out. Briana reassures Alexis there is no need for her to come home.
