Ray and Christa's Beach House
Ray and Christa's beach house is the setting for the majority of "Your Duck Is My Duck." After meeting the narrator at a party, Ray and Christa invite her to stay with them at the house and work on her painting. During her visit, however, the exploitative nature of the couple’s reality on the beach, forces the narrator to confront her frequent retreats into illusive worlds as a means of avoiding her own reality. Set on an idyllic oceanic backdrop, the house is filled with inconsistencies. While the setting offers a retreat from life in the city, its owners have established it on the backs of impoverished farmers. The narrator learns many of these details from another artist at the house.
