Heartless. Summary

Ada is in the middle of a battlefield after the battle has ended. She is a camp follower, in charge of taking care of the soldiers. She is in the field stealing from the injured and dead soldiers. When she finds a soldier on the ground she slits their throat, steals their things and moves on to the next body. However, when she reaches Lord Julian Vrueldegost she leaves him alive. He begs for her help, but she is unimpressed. She wipes blood on his throat and tells him to play dead that if another woman finds him they won't be so kind. He begs for her help to get home and promises to double her land. She tells him she has no land. Her village was destroyed. Ada wears a piece of her finger around her neck. Her mother put a spell...
