Point of View
The novel is narrated in the first-person present by three different narrators. Cal, Ivy, and Mateo take turns telling the story. The chapters alternate almost evenly. Chapters 1-14 alternate evenly in an Ivy-Mateo-Cal rotation. From Chapters 15-21, the characters all get back-to-back chapters. Chapters 22-30 go back to an even rotation. Cal narrates Chapters 31-32. After this, an even rotation takes place in Chapters 33-36. Ivy narrates the first and last chapter. The fact that she bookends the novel gives her a slightly higher priority over the other narrators, though they each have an even 12 chapters of their own. In addition to this, there are interviews presented at the end of chapter in intervals throughout the novel that present transcripts from interviews conducted by Ishaan and Zack.
