Carlton High School

Carlton High School is the school that the three main characters attend as seniors. Located in central Carlton in the greater Boston suburbs, Carlton is affluent, and everyone believes "nothing bad is ever supposed to happen" (220) in Carlton. The students of Carlton High are largely good kids who play sports and aspire to Ivy League colleges. Ivy's mother is awarded the town's Carlton Citizen of the Year for her work as a statistician on a statewide report on opioid abuse. Typically, there are not many cases of drug abuse at Carlton High School, but lately (thanks to the pills Autumn, Mateo, and Boney find and sell), drugs have been popping up more often at the school and around town.

Art Studio

Boney's body is discovered in the art studio in Boston. The studio is in a loft-style building with a keycode for the front door. Ms...
