Grace Reinhart Sachs

Grace Reinhart Sachs is the main character in the novel. The novel is narrated through her perspective. The novel follows the story of Grace’s transformation from a woman who believed her husband, Jonathan, was a saint to one who came to realize that she had been terribly deceived by a clever man with a mental illness.

At the beginning of the novel, Grace is happy and secure in her marriage and her job. She works as a therapist and is in the process of publishing a book instructing women that the best way to have a happy marriage is not to pick the wrong man in the first place.
