Serena meets Dan in Grand Central Station. She has a picnic that the cook packed, and he looks forward to their time together. They go to the bar to wait for the train. Serena tells him that she read his poem. Before she says anything more about it, he sees some familiar looking boys come in and look at Serena.

Serena sees them as well, and she approaches them. It's Nate and his friends. They mention that they are heading to Brown, and she says that's where they are going as well. She invites them to ride with them. Dan is disappointed.
