Summary
In “Sad-Ass Divorce Dreams”, shortly after the divorce, Smith had persistent dreams that she and her ex-husband called off the divorce or remarried. The grief of losing her marriage haunted her waking and dreaming life. In “Rewinding the Film”, the author imagines undoing the past years, inserting the postcard back in her husband’s bag, his hand unwriting the words to another woman, rewinding until she is back. However, Smith questions where it is she wants to go back to. Later, when she travelled to L.A. to teach a workshop, in “Sure You Are”, Smith was angry and anxious when she discovered that her ex-husband took the children to visit his new partner.
