Mark Fife
Mark is the protagonist of the novel. The narrative point of view is a very close third on his perspective, and all of the events are filtered through his lens. Because of this, most of the story is about Mark's thoughts, feelings, emotions, and memories. He is a skeptic and an atheist and he has trouble believing the ghost story, even though it makes him very happy for a short time
