Summary

In Chapter Five, Mark and Alison moved forward with their wedding plans and spread the news. Mark made plans with Chloe on Brendan’s birthday and decided to tell her he was getting remarried then. Mark was in a bookstore when Connie Pelham came up to him and told him that she lived in his old house. She had a son, and her son had seen a ghost. Connie asked Mark about Brendan. Mark left, furious, and told Alison about the encounter. They went to bed, but Mark could not sleep. He thought about how Brendan had fallen down the stairs at the old house and died, and how he and Chloe had nightmares about their son for months.
