Summary

In Chapter 33, Jayne speaks to Patrick on the phone outside of the church. Patrick indicates that he wants to see her again. Jayne wants to talk to June about Patrick but fears that June will say that he is too good for her. June suggests to Jayne that they go to Dairy Queen.

In Chapter 34, June and Jayne go through the drive-thru at Dairy Queen and talk about the time that their mother left. Jayne confesses that she did not think their mother was ever coming back.

Chapter 35 begins with a flashback to after June and Jayne’s mother left. They fought about whether she was coming back; Jayne was sure that she was not, but June disagreed. As June and Jayne continue through the Dairy Queen drive-thru, Jayne recognizes the cashier as the younger brother of Holland Hint, a boy she had...
