Summary

Chapter 17 takes place on Halloween, when June and Jayne return to Jayne’s apartment. They are unable to tell whether Jeremy has moved out, and June is appalled by the state of the apartment. While the girls are there, their mother calls June’s phone, and June picks up, saying that she is coming home to Texas that weekend for a business trip. Later, June admits to Jayne that she does not have a business trip and just wants to go home. She offers to buy Jayne a plane ticket to go with her, and Jayne reluctantly accepts.

In Chapter 18, Jayne goes with her sister to pick up the mail at her building. Jayne sees an envelope from her own health insurance company with her own name on it. She confronts June about this and June admits that she has been using Jayne...
