-- Sophie

Importance: This quote from Sophie represents the opening of the novel, in the most important setting of the novel, and one of the symbols of tangelos. Sophie says this to Jamie as they shop for snacks at Target before going to Rossum’s campaign office. At the end of the novel, back in Target, their friend Kevin makes a joke about a tangelo explosion when they sneak off to make out in a dressing room, proving the significance of this opening symbol.
