Summary
Chapter Twenty-Seven begins from Jamie’s perspective as he drives with Maya, and Maya talks about how stressful the campaign is, and wonders why anyone would want to run for office. Jamie confesses he has wanted to run for Congress. But he says he would be terrible at giving speeches, but Maya says she would vote for him and he would be a “game changer” (332). They arrive at the campaign office and Jamie is nervous and says he needs to text Gabe to make sure he is ready for them. Maya thinks he is acting suspicious, thinking they are just supposed to canvass. They walk inside and suddenly Jordan Rossum steps out from behind a backdrop. Rossum greets them and shakes their hands while Jamie and Maya are awestruck. Maya asks Rossum how he is feeling, and he says nervous but...
