Yellow Stars
The yellow stars symbolize being Jewish and is how the Nazis identify Jewish people. For the people in the ghetto the yellow stars come to symbolize their liberation. The reflection from the stars causes the Russian pilot to call off the bombings to rescue them
Pear
The pear symbolizes taking chances. Syvia sneaks outside and ends up taking pears from the tree. She enjoys the taste of sweetness and is proud, not only of taking the risk of going outside, but also for getting a pear for Dora as well.
