Dual Identities
Several characters in the novel demonstrate how an individual can have dual identities. One identity is inherent and permanently exists. A second often fluctuates because it is contrived and based on lies.
As the novel opens, Jen Brotherhood watches from her window as her 18-year-old son Todd stabs a man named Joseph Jones.
