Point of View

The novel is written in third person from the limited perspectives of Jen and Ryan. The chapters are divided so that some chapters are only from Jen's perspective and some are from Ryan's. The two perspectives never merge. The limited perspective means the reader does not know what other characters are thinking. This is important because there are several plot twists in this story. For example, Jen believes she is married to a man named Kelly Brotherhood, but near the end of the novel she learns that Kelly was really the undercover police officer named Ryan Hiles.

The chapters from Jen's perspective are presented in reverse chronology because she is caught in a time loop. The chapters from Ryan's perspective are presented in chronological order, but these events take place some 20 years before the opening of Jen's timeline.
