Summary
Chapter 8, David, Day 1, Somewhere in the South Pacific – This chapter occurs in the past. Lillian gets in the raft. Dave helps push the unconscious Margaret in. Dave rushes back into the plane to grab Margaret’s life jacket. When Dave emerges, the plane is sinking fast. He scrambles for the raft, and Lillian helps pull him in. He has her backpack. Kent demands to know where Theresa is. Dave explains she is dead. Kent is in disbelief, enraged that Dave could save two people but not Theresa. Dave continues to explain that Theresa was already dead. Kent chokes Dave, screaming at him for a moment before he stops. Lillian blames herself for Theresa’s death since she was sitting in Theresa’s seat talking to Dave when the trouble began. Dave tells her this is not true.
