Summary
In Chapter 71, Ralph, Alan, and four mercenaries Ralph hired who will do whatever he says for the right payment. They slip into Kingsbridge at a place where the surrounding wall is down, murder a sleeping watchman, and go into the church. They break into the nuns' quarters and kill one nun to force another to say where the treasury is located. Ralph wears a glove to ensure that no one will see his hand with its missing fingers and later identify him. He knows he is running a big risk but believes the reward will be worth it. Ralph forces Tilly to the treasury with him. He identifies himself as Tam Hiding, hoping to further hide his identity.
