Summary

Chapter 31. The scorpions go after Beliel and Raffe, leaving the pier unguarded. Penryn runs to the container in an attempt to rescue the people, but she cannot find the key.

Chapter 32. Penryn uses the sword to cut open the container’s lock. Penryn yells at the people to run.

Chapter 33. As the people run, the scorpions return and drop nets on them. Penryn sees her mother and Clara under a nearby net. The people are gathered up and taken to a boat. Each person is required to hand over any weapons or electronics. Penryn is reluctant to leave her sword, but when she sees a woman shot over a gun, she decides not to fight it.

Chapter 34. On the boat, a couple tries to escape, but they are stung by the scorpions. Penryn notices that some of the scorpions are wearing clothing and...
