Summary
Isaiah discovers the singing female mouse in Chapter 11. He realizes that she may be shocked to see him as he has blue fur, so he tries to hide while continuing to listen to her sing. However, she senses that someone is there, and when she stops singing, Isaiah decides to show himself. Isaiah’s blue fur shocks her. As Isaiah anticipates, when Mikayla sees him, the first thing she notices is that he is blue and uses a negative word to categorize the different color of his fur: “Your fur. It’s weird” (51). When Isaiah explains that his brother and sister also have different colored fur, Mikayla does not understand the concept of color.
