Summary
Isaiah is a mouse who, along with his ninety-six brothers and sisters, is running away from an awful place. It is also the only place he knows as home (Chapter 1). He follows them as they run away from the terrible place. He believes that the outside world will be better than their current home because his brother, Abe, and sister, Winnie, say so. The family makes it outside and Isaiah is scared. Then a trash bag blocks their path and Isaiah’s brothers and sisters have to go in different directions. When Isaiah tries to take a shortcut over the bag he gets stuck, which causes him to get separated from the other mice.
