Juliette Nichols

Juliette Nichols is the heroine of this novel. She becomes sheriff of the silo after the original sheriff decides to be sent to cleaning so that he can join his wife. As sheriff, Juliette begins investigating why the prior sheriff decided to go out to cleaning. During her investigation, Juliette uncovers information that scares her friend Scottie badly enough that he wants to transfer back to mechanical. He says that he has seen information bad enough that he could be sent out to cleaning. When Juliette goes to visit Scottie, she has to force her way through IT to get to his office. Because she has entered IT without authorization, Bernard has Juliette removed from her job as sheriff. Later, he has her sentenced to cleaning because of the information that he finds on her computer. Juliette is smart enough to know that Bernard wanted her out...
