Part 2: Proper Gauge, 8
In Chapter 8, Mayor Jahns knits as watches the sun rise the day after Holston’s cleaning. Deputy Marnes brings three folders holding paperwork telling about three possible choices for the next sheriff. He suggests Juliette as she helped him and Holston work a murder a few years ago. Jahns decides they need to make a trip to the lower depths of the silo to interview Juliette and to see the people.
In Chapter 9, Jahns and Marnes move downward in the silo while others are moving up, going to see the clear views because of the recent cleaning. Jahns and Marnes have known each other for many years. There seems to be some connection between them still. They plan to trek down half the length of the silo on their first day. Jahns plans to stop at the nursery...
