John Wooden
John Wooden was born 1910 in Hall, Indiana. He graduated from Purdue and went on to be the coach for the University of California at Los Angeles. He coached teams that won championships in the years 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971,1972, 1973 and 1975. Wooden had three brothers who all went on to become teachers, much like him. With his wife, Nellie, Wooden had two children, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Wooden puts a very large emphasis on family and faith. He strove to live up to the example that his father lived. He attributes the reason that he wanted to become a teacher to the way his father raised him. He states that his father read the bible and poetry to him.
