Summary
In Chapter 24, Grady and James sit down with all of the Warshaws for the Seder. The ceremony and the dinner proceed with a general air of amiability, and also with some light ribbing between the family members. There is a cold but polite rapport between Grady and Emily. James appears to be very interested in the various symbolic rituals involved the Seder ceremony. Partway through the dinner, underlying tensions begin to rise a little bit. Unspoken feelings about Grady and Emily’s imminent dissolution cause some tension among Grady and the Warshaws. Emily and Deb begin to argue about a petty issue, and Grady believes that their argument is defined by sisterly love more than actual anger.
