Roland discusses with Father Callahan the possibility of aborting Susannah's child, unaware of the Catholic opinion on abortion, and finds Callahan not only against the idea, but threatening to end the support of the Calla should Roland suggest such a thing to Susannah. Roland agrees to drop the idea. Eddie tells Roland what Jamie Jaffords told him about the Wolves, causing Roland a great deal of excitement. Later, Roland, Eddie, and Jake go out to the Jaffords where Susannah demonstrates her new ability to throw the plate. Susannah has designed a double holder for the plates that allows her to throw two at once, and she has become very efficient at it. Jake is upset all day...
