Roland and his ka-tet ride to Calla Bryn Sturgis with the Calla people. Roland looks down on the town and feels a sense of homecoming because the Calla looks a lot like the place where he grew up. Roland tells his ka-tet that there will be a party at the Pavillion that night and that they should be careful about how much they drink during the celebration. Roland also instructs Jake to spend the night with the Slightman's because he has developed a friendship with Benny Slightman and Roland feels this will open a door with Slightman's boss, rancher Eisenhart. When the party reaches the heart of town, they find the entire community...
