Chapters 11 -15 Summary

In Chapter 11, a few minutes later, two short-tailed gar attack the trio. Richard strikes with the Sword of Truth but is injured in the process. Zedd shoots wizard fire at them. They all take refuge at the home of Richard's friend Chase, the boundary warden. Chase explains that wardens don't keep people out of the boundary. They keep monsters inside the boundary, and limit their food supply. Any living person who enters the boundary will certainly be killed by the underworld shadows who live there. Chase explains that the wardens follow only the Seeker. When he learns Richard has been appointed Seeker, he swears to protect Richard with his life. Chase agrees to lead them through a pass in the boundary, several days away on horseback.
