Chapter 7, Summary
(Chapter 7, "On the Drop") Susan Delgado and her aunt fight the next day over Susan's role as gilly. Cordelia wants the money and believes Susan should be grateful, but Susan says she is nothing more than a whore for him. Angered, Susan goes out to ride, finding she can't stop thinking about Will Dearborn. Earlier that week, Sheemie arrives and gives flowers, but Susan hides the note before Cordelia sees. The flowers are from Will as an apology, and he asks to see her, but Susan sends back a message refusing. However, she now runs into Will on the Drop. They talk and he asks her how many horses are on the Drop. After figuring, they come to about 1,000, much less than the ranchers said. Susan cries because she is ashamed of herself, and she and Will kiss. She asks him to stay...
