Summary

In Chapter 1, Clive Puckett, the sheriff of Brunswick County, was the first witness to be called to the stand by the state of Florida. He described the crime scene in which a man and a woman had apparently been discovered in the act of having sexual relations. They had each been shot in the head twice. The woman was married to the man on trial for the murders. The man accused of committing the murders had been good friends with Son Razko, the man who was killed. Even though the defense lawyer had tried to keep the crime scene photos from being used in the trial because they might be influential, the photos were allowed.
