Summary
In Chapter 10, Andromeda senses a Manifestation in Magnus's room though it is two hours before the Waking should create any real danger. She finds the room flooded in blood. Magnus is alive but paralyzed until the blood is over the bed. They have to force the door open against the deep blood. Outside, they hold to each other until Andromeda instructs him to let go. Andromeda creates an amulet and the blood disappears, including the blood on Andromeda and Magnus. He says he was “drowned alive once before,” and does not want to experience it again (80). Andromeda fights back her feeling of sympathy based on Jember's lessons against it. Magnus feels indebted because Andromeda saved his life.
