Summary

In Chapter 13, Sammie arrived at Myra’s “gated community” (161). Unable to contact Myra, she snuck in behind the “pizza delivery driver” (161). Still tipsy, she almost hit the driver in the lot. When the man lashed out, Sammie considered the difference between men’s and women’s rage. She knew Samson had anger issues, too. She wondered if her daughter would have, too. She wondered if Samson would have “protected her from harm” (163).

Myra’s daughter answered the door. Sammie and Myra talked in the kitchen. Myra was hurt that Sammie had not been responding to her texts. After Myra’s daughter went to bed, Sammie and Myra talked about their children. Sammie’s sexual desire dissipated.
