Summary
In the middle of the night at his mother’s house, Art wakes from a nightmare. He was being chased by giant flowers into an old church. Hiding in a knight’s tomb, he suddenly finds himself imprisoned inside the suit of armor on top of it. As the flowers approach, he cries out that he is political. When he realizes he has an erection, he connects the dream to his breakup with Charlotte, and wonders what Freud would say. Now awake, Art is worried. Iris had arrived at 2 am, carting giant boxes of fresh food and a potted tree. She recognized that Lux was not Charlotte, but didn’t ask questions (157).
