Chapters 16-20 Summary

Weather is finishing her shift at the hospital and meets with the deputy who will escort her home. It took a while to convince Weather she needed an escort but the cops, particularly Davenport, had insisted.

Weather and Deputy Bruun chat on the way to Weather's house and are fired upon with a shotgun. The Iceman had been stalking them from the hospital and was determined to kill Weather this time. The Iceman begins to shoot and smashes out the windows. Weather hits the floor and Bruun continues to drive, even after he is hit. Bruun is a dedicated and rugged man who will not let Weather be harmed. Bruun fights to keep the SUV on the road and the pair makes it back to the hospital. The Iceman takes off, his mission failing once again.
