Summary
In Ayers, Ayers prepares to go on a hike the day after Rosie’s funeral, remembering Maia’s words that there is no sense in staying home and wallowing in grief. She is going to hike the Reef Bay Trail in order to see the petroglyphs that Rosie liked so much that she had one tattooed onto her ankle.
Ayers recognizes Cash when she sees him studying the petroglyphs. She breaks down as she tries to talk to him and tells him that the party he and Baker had crashed was her best friend’s funeral. She likes Cash because he is strong and sturdy though he is not as good looking as his brother.
