Point of View
The narrative is written from the first-person perspective of the narrative’s protagonist, Win. This is fitting as it is his story. While there is a lot going on in the narrative, Win, is really about Win’s journey of growth as he both literally and figuratively stands alone, away from his identity as Myron’s sidekick and best friend, and the world of Lockwood Manor, to define what is right, and not right, for his life. The first-person perspective is especially well-done as it gets into Win’s head as he deals with his discoveries about what it takes to be a mature adult and the tribulations that occur throughout the narrative.
While Win is honest, his love for his family makes him unable to see their true characters. This weakness creates red herrings and almost leads the family to the brink of scandal...
