Willow Randall
Willow Randall is the fifteen-year-old protagonist of the novel. She is given very little physical description in the novel, but the reader learns that she has long brown hair, which she wears in braids on the sides of her head and that her skin is covered in scars from her self-mutilation. Seven months ago, Willow's parents had too much to drink at dinner and asked her to drive them home. It was a rainy night and the streets were wet. Despite the fact that Willow only had a learner's permit, she got behind the wheel and accidentally drove her parents car straight into a tree, instantly killing them.
