Summary

Chapter 4 picks up from Rumpus's perspective. He is annoyed by the collar, but he cannot scratch it off. He is in a crate that is moving. He does not know where Rosie is. He is overwhelmed by the smells and sounds. When the van finally stops, he hears a man tell Arabella Pennyworth that she has a delivery from Harrods – a gift from her brother. The men give her papers to explain how to care for the leopard. Rumpus is appalled by Arabella's smell – the unnatural smell of flowers that makes him sneeze. Inside her apartment, Rumpus tries to make Arabella understand he is hungry. She talks to her brother on the phone, thanking him for the gift and saying she plans to walk Rumpus in the park later.
