Hetty Chapin

Hetty is one of the students at the Raxter boarding school, having been in attendance for a few months when the Tox struck. Hetty considers Byatt her best friend and she is somewhat dependent on Reese's friendship, though the girls are uneasy with each other until Byatt is out of the picture for a few days. Like all the girls, Hetty has a deformity caused by the Tox. In her case, one eye has fused over and she can sometimes feel something moving around behind the eyelid, which often seeps and hurts. She struggles to make up for the loss. Sometimes, it takes her a few minutes to be able to focus the remaining eye when she first wakes.
