Summary
Part Three begins with Chapter 9 which returns to the perspective of Nicky. After being threatened at work, Nicky drove to Sheila’s house to tell her what had happened. Sheila and Nicky went to Cillian’s house and confronted him about the situation. Cillian explained that he had agreed to store drugs for Mulrooney and had been using an outdoor location that was unexpectedly impacted by a “turlough” a weather phenomenon that only occurs in Ireland and can produce a temporary lake after heavy rainfall. The turlough resulted in the loss of thirty thousand euros worth of drugs which Mulrooney and the Ferdias expected Cillian to pay for, not believing the story about the turlough and instead suspecting that Cillian had sold the drugs himself. Sheila was extremely angry and berated Cillian for his behavior.
